 Reading Practice Goals- 2nd quarter

  • Independent reading goals have been set for the second quarter.  All students should've shared their goals with parents and returned a signature for credit.

  • Remember, the goal will be based on books that are read independently, novels read in class, and books read aloud by Mrs. Miller.   Any books read can count toward the goal-- they do not have to be "AR" books

The goal will consist of three parts:

  • interactive reading/recordkeeping
  • book comprehension level
  • points earned for AR tests or book completion records

The goal is written  in the agenda book.   The following checkpoint dates have been set for the 2nd quarter.  Students will record their progress in their agenda book.

25% of RPG-- November 2

50% of RPG-- November 16

75% of RPG-- November 30

100% of RPG-- December 11

**a grade will be taken at this point

A grade will be taken at the end of the quarter.  During the second quarter, booklogs, calendars, and interactive bookmarks are worth the same amount of points as achieving the goal. Accuracy of comprehension tests are weighted less.  Throughout the year, the weighting will shift so that the achieving the goal is worth more.  There is an opportunity for extra credit each quarter.  Percentage points above and beyond the goal can be accrued for extra credit points.

Please let me know if you have any questions about the goal.

A "Student Record" of tests taken will be sent home at the end of each sememster.

Students can access their record of tests taken/points earned at any time through the Renaissance Learning web page-- can be accessed at school or at home  (AMS Library Link)
